Ahhhh... Wildlife!

One of the few perks from living here, in the boondocks, is the amount of wildlife we get to see. Thirteen different species of birds (from hummingbirds to bald eagles) have appeared in our yard, and live nearby. We have squirrels, skunks, racoons, feral cats, coyotes, and deer. Those are just the ones we've seen or found sign (poop). Today we found a new species. And I didn't even bring my camera, so no pictures. :( The Boy and I were on our way to the ocean, yet again. We are lucky enough to live a mere 8 minutes drive from our favorite beach. On our way we came upon a car stopped in the middle of the road. In this part of the world, people still stop traffic on the highway to let families of ducks pass. So, thinking this was what was occurring, we slowed down as we approached. To our surprise the car doors opened, both sides. And that's when we saw them. They must not have seen us because the two creatures cautiously but steadily came all the way out into the open. I think that's when they saw us: they startled and plunged back into the safety of their enclosure. Strange... we don't usually see them in these parts, not in broad daylight. What were they? A young (very obviously healthy) couple... attempting a chinese fire-drill... naked.
