What I learned in the past week...
You can't take a 2 year old to the beach... in a raincoat and gumboots. Not even because it's raining. Ever had to put a raincoat through the washing machine to get out all the sand? Does it work? I wonder how long it will take to dry out his rubber boots in this weather....
A 2 year old, determined enough, will tantrum even if you have eliminated all crises from his immediate vicinity. He will still want something different.
Your toddler will remember every instance that you "lost it" and yelled. And that it made him cry. And will tell your mother-in-law (his nannie) each and every tim
e he sees her.
e he sees her.The toddler, after he has exhausted your last patience with following his own agenda and ignoring all directions and even pleas from The Woman Who Gave Him Birth, destroyed the living room, taken out every last toy he owns, and asked the same questions Over And Over And Over And Over, will take out all the stops and charm you to death as he's falling asleep. Every time.

Beaches are meant for naked toes, and NO COATS. Silly Mummy. And of course, it is his job to tell Nanny everything. Well, only the "bad" things. God forbid Nanny hear good things about you.

Beaches are definitely for bare feet, shorts and tees, no matter if it's July or November.
ReplyDeleteWe're taking Ewok to the beach for the first time ever on Monday. We're visiting friends for the weekend and they only live 16 miles from the coast (we live in the heart of the UK, miles from the coast), hopefully the weather will be nice, but even if it's raining (it is England after all) he will go to the beach in beachwear, after all, he's going to get wet whether it's from below or above.
